Problem

Company: Vision Spring Microfinance is a money lending company in Uganda.

Situation: Vision Spring Microfinance provide short term loans to people who might be in need of immediate financial assistance. In the past, old and new clients had to either call or physically visit the Vision Spring offices to get information about the existing loan packages and current interest rates. This was a hindrance to many potential clients and also was slowly crippling the Micro Finance's credibility in the market as its competitors had online presence.

Task: In 2017 Vision Spring Microfinance hired me as a Software Developer and Consultant to develop them a website that would among other things, showcase their loan packages, interest rates and enable their clients apply for loans online.

Solution

Action: Together with Vision Spring Microfinance representatives, we brainstormed, iterated through various prototypes and phases and built a website called vision-spring.org.

Results: Having successfully completed the site, Vision Spring Microfinance currently uploads information about their loan packages to vision-spring.org where clients conveniently view rates and apply for loans online. Through the analytics dashboard, the company now has insight on its client behavior and what loan packages they prefer. Communication between Vision Spring clients and the company has also immensely improved as feedback is now instant.
